A legacy since 1999

Honoring the best new skyscrapers

When the inaugural award was selected in 1999, no architectural prize existed specifically for tall buildings. Our skyscraper award changed that, and have honoured a single building of the year ever since.

Each annual selection rests on the same three pillars: a public nomination phase open to architects, developers, photographers and observers worldwide, a community shortlist reviewed by SKYDB editors, and a final round in which the architecture and construction community at large casts the deciding vote. The result is not a jury verdict from a closed panel. It is a verdict from the people who work with these buildings every day.

Today, SKYDB Awards are recognized as a prestigious accolade in the architecture world, and the winners are celebrated for their innovation, design excellence and contribution to the urban landscape.
